Riley's Farm Reflection
The field trip to Riley’s farm was such a fun experience. We learned a lot about war. We also learned about what they did and how they lived in the old days. I didn’t really like the skirts that we had to wear though. It was really hard to move around in them.
In one station we learned about manners. In that station the two girls were showing us how to dance. We also learned how to eat, drink, and the boys learned how to ask a girl dance with them. The girl’s called the boy’s lads. I really enjoyed that station.
In other station we learned how to make blankets. All we really did was knit with a ruler and a board. To make the blankets, the men had to give the sheep a hair cut. After that, they would give the women the wool and they would knit it. That was a very important job for women because you have to be warm when it’s really cold.
That’s pretty much all we did and we also learned how it was in war. They didn’t want us to use real guns so, they gave us sticks. We battled half the kids on the other team. The side that I was on, we were fighting for freedom. I had a really good time at Riley’s Farm and I hope that I can go there again.
